Soil-Erosion Products

Soil erosion products are materials used to control and prevent erosion of soil and sediment in various applications, including construction, landscaping, agriculture, and environmental protection. These products help stabilize soil, control water flow, and promote vegetation growth to reduce erosion and sedimentation.

Woven Geotextile Product vs. Non-Woven Geotextile Product:

  1. Woven Geotextile Product:
    • Woven geotextiles are made by weaving polypropylene, polyester, or polyethylene fibers together to create a strong and durable fabric.
    • These products have a high tensile strength and are ideal for applications requiring filtration, separation, and reinforcement of soil.
    • Woven geotextiles are applied as a subsoil filter and to separate and stabilize fill over soft wet subgrades. Commonly used in road construction, embankments, retaining walls, and erosion control applications where strength and stability are essential.
  1. Non-Woven Geotextile Product:
  • Non-woven geotextiles are made by bonding synthetic fibers together through mechanical, thermal, or chemical processes.
  • These products are designed for filtration, drainage, and separation of soil layers while allowing water to pass through.
  • Non-woven geotextiles are used as reclaimed land, container yards and airport runways. Commonly used in applications such as drainage systems, erosion control, landscaping, and environmental protection projects.

Geosynthetic Clay Soil-Erosion Product:

Geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs) are composite materials consisting of a layer of bentonite clay sandwiched between woven or non-woven geotextiles. Manufactured from quality polypropylene geotextiles and premium grade sodium bentonite, needle-punched together using high strength fibres to ensure effective sealing strength GCLs provide a barrier against water flow and are used for lining landfills, ponds, dams, and other containment structures to prevent seepage and soil erosion.

Suitable Applications for Different Soil-Erosion Products:

  1. Woven Geotextile Products:
  • Suitable for applications requiring high strength, filtration, and reinforcement, such as road construction, embankments, and retaining walls.
  • Used in areas with high loads, steep slopes, and heavy traffic to stabilize soil and prevent erosion.
  1. Non-Woven Geotextile Products:
  • Ideal for drainage, filtration, and separation of soil layers in landscaping, erosion control, and environmental projects.
  • Used in areas where water flow needs to be controlled, such as drainage systems, slope stabilization, and sediment control.
  1. Geosynthetic Clay Soil-Erosion Products:
  • Suitable for lining applications where water containment and erosion prevention are critical, such as landfills, ponds, and dams.
  • Used in projects requiring a barrier against water seepage and soil erosion, providing both hydraulic and geotechnical performance.

The selection of the appropriate soil erosion product depends on the specific requirements of the project, including soil conditions, water flow, slope stability, and environmental considerations. Consulting with a geotechnical engineer or erosion control specialist can help determine the most suitable product for a particular application to effectively manage soil erosion and sedimentation.
